Being a tropical country, the average temperature of country is 100 degree and above in the day of April. So it can be said that April is the hottest month in the country.
Under this scorching heat, people celebrate the New Year by splashing water to each other. The
idea of splashing water to each other and giving clean Buddhist temple
and pagoda is to wash away the sins from the previous year. Everyone old or young is celebrate in believe of tradition of joyous holiday in Myanmar. No one gets sick although they are wet under this extreme temperature.
No one is angry for being wet. However, pregnant woman, monks elder who have received eight percepts are not support to throw water to be wet.
As for Rakhine people, one of the major ethnic groups in country, they follow some unique traditions when celebrating the festival. Rakhine women are wearing traditional dress and fill the water wool build canoe and throw gently to the participated men.
